Re: Nearest pub to the Olympic Stadium?
I bet the landlord of the Carpenters can't fucking wait until the 13th August. Rubbing his hands in glee.

I wonder if he'll bother hiring any more bar staff for matchdays, though....

Re: Nearest pub to the Olympic Stadium?
There are NO pubs by West Ham tube. The last one around that way was the spread eagle and that went years ago.

Bromley By Bow has the Widows SOn (AKA Bun House) down the road right next to Devons Road, which is two stops from Pudding Mill Lane. Good option if youre coming in on the District.

The Little Driver is a proper shit hole, avoid at all costs.

In answer to your questions it's NO and NO.

Probably better to go on to Bow Road and try the Driver or Bow Bells on the walk from there.

You can drink from cans closer to the ground if you want.

Re: Nearest pub to the Olympic Stadium?
What's the Builders like?

Not much of a diversion to go there if walking from Stratford Stn to the OS.

Re: Nearest pub to the Olympic Stadium?
Garos, have you not been in the Queens recently? People don't seem to mind all that much if a pub is a shit hole.

Dwight Van Mann 12:37 Fri Mar 18
Re: Nearest pub to the Olympic Stadium?
Gavros, you really reckon the little driver is a shithole compared to the widows?
The widows is like a boozer in Jaywick

The old duke of Cambridge other side of devons road on the newish estate is a lovely little old fashioned boozer. Tiny though. Looks ram with more than 20 people in there.

Cheers 64 & Gav though not what I wanted to hear.... I come in on Jubilee line so WH would have been perfect.

Re: Nearest pub to the Olympic Stadium?
What road is the Builders in?

Gavros 12:40 Fri Mar 18
Re: Nearest pub to the Olympic Stadium?
Yeah Builders your best bet. Get off at West Ham Jubilee, cross the platform, and go to Stratford High Street on DLR. Builders is just across the road.

Re: Nearest pub to the Olympic Stadium?
Imagine only drinking in a pub at football cos it's "good" ffs.

90% of pubs around Upton Park are fucking shite.

Eddie B 12:41 Fri Mar 18
Re: Nearest pub to the Olympic Stadium?
Oh yeah, i've got it now. It's the one on the corner opposite Stratford High St DLR station.

Dwight Van Mann 12:43 Fri Mar 18
Re: Nearest pub to the Olympic Stadium?
The builders is always full of pickles mob. Place reeks of cabbage sandwich farts.

1964 12:44 Fri Mar 18
Re: Nearest pub to the Olympic Stadium?
No need to change at West Ham, just stay on the Jubliee to Stratford, the Builders is just a short walk round the corner.

Gavros 12:47 Fri Mar 18
Re: Nearest pub to the Olympic Stadium?
i reckon itd be slightly quicker changing at West Ham for now, but that'll go when they open the new station exit into the carpenters estate

Re: Nearest pub to the Olympic Stadium?
Gavros a question for you..... theres an area just to the right of the swimming complex down some stairs from the approach which is frequently having fairgrounds etc put on it. Is there any chance that would be turned into a massive food and drink area on match days do you know?

Gavros 12:54 Fri Mar 18
Re: Nearest pub to the Olympic Stadium?
Youre talking about the Olympicolpolis site. Probably free for another year before work starts proper. There's also the south lawn which is just to the south of the Orbit and had the fanzone for the RWC....two years max before that turns into a building site for UCL east campus.
